Dr. Philip A. Wenk

Dr. Philip Wenk joined Delta Dental of Tennessee as chief operating officer in March 1997 and was promoted to his current position in January 2000. A practicing dentist for 20 years in Clinton, TN, Dr. Wenk received a Bachelor of Science from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville in 1973, and a D.D.S. from the University of Tennessee College of Dentistry in 1977. He has served as secretary and president of the Second District Dental Society and as a delegate to the Tennessee Dental Association. Dr. Wenk is a fellow of the American College of Dentists, a member of the International College of Dentists, and a recipient of the Fellowship Award for Distinguished Service from the Tennessee Dental Association.
During his tenure, Dr. Wenk has led Delta Dental of Tennessee to be named one of the 25 fastest growing companies in Middle Tennessee in 2008, 2010, and 2011, and “Best in Business” in 2007 by the Nashville Business Journal. The paper has also ranked Delta Dental as one of the top 10 most efficiently run companies in Middle Tennessee and has recognized Dr. Wenk as one of the 100 most influential healthcare executives and professionals in the Middle Tennessee area.
Dr. Wenk is as active in the community as he is in his profession. He has served or is serving on boards and committees for many organizations including: The American Cancer Society, The Nashville Zoo, the University Of Tennessee College Of Dentistry Alumni Board, and Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt. The current leader of the usher team at Brentwood United Methodist Church, he was previously on the church’s Board of Trustees, serving as the chair in 2003 and 2004. A dedicated family man, he and his wife have two children and three grandchildren.
