In a recent special issue, the Nashville Business Journal recognized Delta Dental of Tennessee (Delta Dental) as one of Middle Tennessee’s 25 Fastest Growing Companies. Cited for boosting economic vitality and quality of life, companies were ranked by revenue growth from 2004 to 2007, a period during which Delta Dental experienced a 44 percent rise in revenue. The number of Delta Dental subscribers has more than doubled since 2000, with a total of 840,000 in 2007.
“With more than 85 percent of the state’s dentists comprising our provider network, Delta Dental subscribers receive the finest service available while enjoying significant discounts,” said Phil Wenk, D.D.S., president and CEO of Delta Dental. “When distracted by dental pain, employees are less productive and students are unable to focus on their schoolwork. Increasing awareness of the importance of proper oral hygiene is vital to the welfare of Tennessee.”
By maintaining a commitment to evidence-based dentistry, Delta Dental’s services allow patients to avoid possible costly health problems such as heart disease and diabetes that have been linked to dental problems.
Bill Philips, Bridgestone-Firestone’s vice president for labor relations and employee benefits, believes Delta Dental provides a product that’s a “win-win” for all parties involved: dentists, companies and their employees. “They are interested in us as a client,” said Phillips. “We’ve partnered with someone who cares about your total health.”
