Tuesday, July 22, 2008
With figures measuring more than 51 million subscribers in 93,000 groups, Delta Dental recognizes 2007 as its 28th consecutive year of financial accomplishments and subscriber growth. Of the estimated 170 million Americans with dental insurance, more than one-fourth receive coverage from Delta Dental.
Its cost-management efforts and contractual agreements with dentists also allowed Delta Dental to save groups and enrollees $5.8 billion in 2007.
Offering the services of over 125,000 dentists in 186,000 nationwide locations, the Delta Dental Premier network is the country’s most extensive. Throughout the past year, the Delta Dental system processed 76 million claims at an accuracy rate of 99 percent. This number comes out to approximately 1.4 million claims processed weekly.
“Moving forward, we’re dedicated to using our leadership and expertise to shape the future of dental benefits and make dental coverage accessible to a wide variety of employers, groups and individuals. With this vision in focus, we expect to see similar growth into the future,” said Tom Dolatowski, vice president of marketing and communications at Delta Dental Plans Association.
Delta Dental is a network of 39 independent, not-for-profit dental service organizations conducting business in all 50 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico. These service organizations are all members of Delta Dental Plans Association (DDPA). Based in Oak Brook, IL, DDPA’s mission is to help improve the overall oral health of the nation by making dental care more available and affordable to the public through the expansion of dental benefits programs.
