International Dental Program

With Passport Dental, Delta Dental enrollees can receive expert dental care when they are outside of the United States through the AXA Assistance worldwide network of dentists and dental clinics.

What dental services are covered?

Delta Dental of Tennessee subscribers can receive dental treatment for both non-emergency and emergency care through Passport Dental, according to the terms of their Delta Dental coverage.

How do I get dental assistance outside of the U.S.?

When calling from outside the United States, contact an operator and request a collect call to (312) 356-5971. Identify yourself as a Delta Dental enrollee to the AXA Assistance representative. Operators are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. If you are inside the United States, call (888) 558-2705.

How do I Submit a Claim?

When services are provided by AXA Assistance dentists, enrollees must pay for their treatment and get a detailed receipt so they can submit a claim to Delta Dental for reimbursement when they return to the United States.

Receipts should include:

• The dentist’s name and address (including country)

• A description of the services performed (including what tooth and/or teeth were treated)

• The charges and whether those charges were billed in U.S. dollars or local currency

Once claims are submitted to us, we will reimburse enrollees according to the terms and conditions of their existing Delta Dental coverage. In most cases, that means both emergency and routine treatment will be covered.

NOTE: AXA Assistance dentists are not Delta Dental participating PPO dentists. This means enrollees who are covered under the Individual Plan will have limited coverage when they see an AXA Assistance dentist.
