Delta Dental of Tennessee and Main Street Media Launch New Series, “Community Checkup”

Delta Dental of Tennessee announces new monthly show highlighting healthy living tips and Tennessee nonprofits.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - (April 19, 2024) - Delta Dental of Tennessee and Main Street Media Television today announced the launch of "Community Checkup," a new monthly show that seeks to highlight healthy living tips and nonprofits working to improve the health and wellbeing of Tennesseans. Hosted by Main Street Media personality Stefanie Miller and Delta Dental of Tennessee's Vice President of Brand Strategy, Missy Acosta, the premiere episode, released today, discusses the importance of routine dental checkups and highlights local organizations including:

  • Gilda’s Club of Middle Tennessee, a local cancer support nonprofit, in recognition of April as Oral Cancer Awareness Month. The episode tells the story of Natalie Hennes, an oral cancer survivor who was diagnosed at age 37. Natalie has participated in the Gilda’s Club Head & Neck Cancer Support Group, which Delta Dental is proud to sponsor. Learn more about Gilda’s Club here.
  • Tennessee Performing Arts Center (TPAC) and its school program, known as “Wolf Trap,” that sends teaching artists to classrooms. These teaching artists go into the schools and use puppet shows, music, and dance to help young students learn how to brush their teeth, and why brushing their teeth is so important. • Governor’s Early Literacy Foundation, which aims to strengthen early literacy across Tennessee. Delta Dental is a long-time supporter of the Foundation and its book bus mobile library program. The latest Book Bus, a partnership with Book’Em, launched at Cumberland Elementary School earlier this year. Read more about the Foundation here.

“Delta Dental of Tennessee has been investing in our community for 25 years with scholarships, equipment for dental schools, helping enrich our community with educational resources that teach the importance of oral healthcare, and more,” said Acosta. “Being able to share these resources with more of the community is a privilege and we are grateful to Main Street Media for providing this opportunity.”

In addition to discussing oral and overall health topics, episodes will also feature photos from recent Delta Dental partnership program events, showcasing the organization's commitment to serving communities throughout Tennessee. Viewers will also have the opportunity to hear a special message from Delta Dental CEO, Jeff Ballard.

“We are excited about the opportunity to share important oral healthcare information with our audience across Middle Tennessee,” said Dave Gould, President and CEO, Main Street Media. “Our friends at Delta Dental are a great fit for this partnership, and we look forward to working with them to create interesting shows that will also highlight non-profits doing great work across the region.”
